Elit Andac Cam, who won the hearts of Russian viewers with her role as Cagle in the series Bahar, gave a notable interview to one of Russia’s leading TV channels, RBC.
In an interview with Russian journalist Yana Bashirova, Elit Andac Cam openly discussed her acting career and the challenges women face.
The successful actress shared her experience, saying:
“I initially thought the interview would be superficial, but it turned out to be much deeper than I expected. I receive a lot of messages from Russia, but I didn’t realize the love was so overwhelming. Bahar is everywhere, and this attention truly makes me happy.”
On Women’s Issues
When discussing the struggles women face, Elit Andac Cam highlighted that similar challenges exist worldwide:
“Women everywhere experience the same pressures. There is a perception that a woman’s status declines after a divorce. I went through this myself after my divorce. But a woman’s value isn’t defined by marriage or divorce. Sadly, the pressure of patriarchy is felt around the world,” the actress explained.
The Russian journalist observed that viewer preferences vary across Russia’s vast territory. While series about the Ottoman Empire are popular in regions with predominantly Muslim populations, like the Caucasus, psychological dramas are in higher demand in central Russia.
At the end of the interview, Cam gladly accepted an invitation to visit Russia and added:
“My father is also a fan of Russian culture; he’s even learning Russian. Russian literature and cinema hold a special place in the world. I look forward to visiting Russia with my father at the first opportunity.”
